Information for Referrers

General Practitioners

GPs can refer individuals to us through both the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative or the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS).  Completion of a mental health treatment plan will allow the patient to claim a partial rebate on the cost of up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

The Medicare item codes for a Mental Health care Plan are:

  • Item 2700/2701 for GPs without Mental Health Skills Training

  • Item 2715/2717 for GPs with Mental health Skills Training

  • Item 2712 for Mental Health Care Plan Review

Under the ATAPS program individuals are eligible for up to 12 sessions in a calendar year.  If the patient is eligible for ATAPS the referral must be sent to:

Workplaces

Workplaces can refer staff to us for confidential services under an Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).  If you are interested in speaking with us about development of a memorandum of understanding and service delivery please contact us on 0421 770 022 or admin@caringmatters.com.au

Individuals

Individuals can self-refer for services. You can contact us directly on 0421 770 022 to book an appointment as a private, fee-paying client.  If you are with a health fund you may be able to claim a partial rebate; you will need to follow this up with your private health fund.  You may also be eligible under another program, please contact us to discuss your options. 

 

Defence members and family members

Current and ex-serving Defence Members and their significant others are able to refer to Caring Matters through Open Arms (formerly VVCS). Contact Open Arms on 1800 011 046 for an intake assessment and referral.

Carers NT

If you a carer for a loved one you may be eligible for referral through Carers NT. Contact Carers NT on (08) 8944 4888 to discuss.

Insurance or workplace claims

Qualified professionals are able to provide independent psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or treatment for insurance related claims (personal, motor vehicle and workplace injury) as well as for victims of crime.
